Cal Poly freshman Matt Johnsrud (Roseville, Calif.) was named Big West Male Track Athlete of the Week. The Mustang distance runner won the 1,500-meter race at the Cal Poly Invitational with a time of 3:47.93. His time is the fastest among Big West athletes this season and qualified for NCAA Regionals. UC Santa Barbara senior Jasmine Washington (San Francisco, Calif.) was named Big West Female Track Athlete of the Week. The Gaucho sprinter finished first in the 400-meter event at the Baldy Castillo Invitational. Her time of 53.58 broke the UCSB all-time record and qualified her for the NCAA Regionals.

Cal Poly freshman Sharon Day (Costa Mesa, Calif.) was named Big West Female Field Athlete of the Week. The Mustang field athlete won the high jump competetion at the Cal Poly Invitational, clearing 6-0.25 feet. Her mark is second-best on the team and conference this season. Cal Poly senior Jon Takahashi (San Diego, Calif.) was named Big West Male Field Athlete of the Week after clearing a 18-01.25 height in the pole vault event at the Cal Poly Invitational, which placed first. Takahashi is the Big West decathlon defending champion.
