No less than three former Big West baseball standouts will be on 26-man rosters of Major League Baseball (MLB) teams in the 2026 Postseason.

Former Long Beach State outfielder Jarren Duran is a member of the Boston Red Sox. Duran compiled 20 home runs and 21 stolen bases in a productive regular season. The Red Sox will start the postseason against the New York Yankees in the Wild Card round.

Former Cal State Fullerton right-handed pitcher Tanner Bibee and Hawai‘i right-handed pitcher Cade Smith are members of the Cleveland Guardians. In the 2026 regular season, Bibee started 33 games for Cleveland and looks to be part of their playoff rotation. Smith amassed 41 saves in the 2026 regular season, tied for most in MLB, along with a 1.95 ERA. The former Rainbow Warrior was named an All-Star in 2026. The Guardians are the No. 2 seed in the AL and will face the either the Houston Astros or Chicago White Sox in one leg of the ALDS.

Additionally, former Cal Poly pitcher Drew Thorpe is on the Chicago White Sox’s playoff prep squad, working out of the organization’s Arizona facility.
The 2026 MLB Postseason starts on Tuesday, Sept. 29 with the Wild Card round. The World Series will take place from Oct. 23 - Oct. 31.
