No. 3 Seed UC San Diego Earns First Division I Postseason Win in 2026 Big West Baseball Championship

IRVINE, Calif. -- No. 3 seed UC San Diego secured a 5–1 victory over No. 5 seed Cal State Fullerton (24-32) in an elimination game in the 2025 Big West Baseball Championship at Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark on Friday night.

The Tritons (25-27) broke open the game with a decisive three-run eighth inning, while its pitching staff limited the Titans to just one run. UC San Diego starting pitcher Nic Gregson (1-7) went seven innings of one run ball with four strikeouts. Closer Devon King got a third save on the season throwing two shutout frames. First baseman Gabe Camacho went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Center fielder Nathaniel Widelski hit 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Titan second baseman Nick Miller went 2-for-4. Cal State Fullerton’s lone RBI came from right fielder Paul Contreras. Titan starter Dylan Smith went seven innings and gave up two runs.
The Tritons took the lead in the top of the third as a Camacho single brought in Ryson Ujimori.

The Titans evened the score in the bottom of the fifth as Contreras hit an RBI fielder’s choice to score Cam Burdick.

UC San Diego broke the game open in the eighth inning with three runs. Alex Leopard’s RBI bunt brought in one run and a double from Widelski scored two Triton runs. UCSD got an insurance run in the ninth from a J.C. Allen RBI to account for the final score of the game.
