2025-26 Winter Academic All-Conference
A total of 241 Big West student-athletes who compete in the winter sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming & diving were honored for their work in the classroom and on the playing field as members of the 2025-26 Big West Winter Academic All-Conference Team. The 221 distinguished student-athletes is the same number as last year’s honorees. In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference honor, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative institutional grade point average (GPA), must have completed one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's contests in the student-athlete's respective sport. In the sport of swimming & diving, a student-athlete must have competed in either 50 percent of the institution’s events or participated in the Conference Championship.
Nine of the 221 student-athletes honored boast a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA:
Sabrina Bennani (women’s swimming & diving/UC San Diego),
Caitlin Brown (women’s swimming & diving/UC Santa Barbara),
Ramses Duarte (men’s swimming & diving/Grand Canyon),
Clara Husaby (women’s swimming & diving/Seattle U),
Kennan Ka (women’s basketball/Long Beach State),
Eva Kovaluk (women’s swimming & diving/Hawai‘i),
Rebecca Moors (women’s basketball/Hawai‘i),
Mallory Paine (women’s swimming & diving/San Diego),
Mario Perez Torrado (men’s swimming & diving/Grand Canyon).
By sport, women’s swimming & diving had the most honorees with 93, followed by men’s swimming & diving (73), women’s basketball (49) and men’s basketball (26).
By school, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara had the most student-athletes honored with 36 apiece. Not far behind the was UC Davis with 30 and Hawai‘i with 29.
The Big West recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter, and spring – for all conference-sponsored sports. The Winter Academic All-Conference Team will honor men’s and women’s basketball and men's and women's swimming & diving student-athletes, with the Spring Academic All-Conference Team consisting of student-athletes from men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s track and field, women’s water polo, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, beach volleyball, softball and baseball.
