Chelsea Johnson Chosen As Weekly Winner Following Clutch OT Win by UC Davis

  • 8137UC Davis center defender Chelsea Johnson powered the Aggies to a 1-1 Big West weekend, highlighted by a 16-15 overtime victory over No. 9 UC Irvine, to earn Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honors, presented by Kap7. This is the first weekly distinction of the junior's career. 

  • On Friday, Johnson accounted for four of the Aggies' six goals against Long Beach State. Johnson followed that performance by matching a career high with five goals in Sunday's win over UC Irvine, including two clutch power-play scores in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime.

  • This season, Johnson leads UC Davis with 33 goals and ranks sixth in The Big West with 50 points, with 33 goals and 16 assists. Through three conference matches, Johnson sits atop the league in goals (11), points (15), and goals per game, continuing to anchor the Aggies' attack from the center defender position.
