  • CSUN third baseman Kyle Panganiban slashed .500/.500/.700 with 10 hits, two RBI and six runs scored in four road victories to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor from the conference for Panganiban.

  • The redshirt sophomore opened the week collecting a hit and a run scored in an 11-9 win at Fresno State, Tuesday night.

  • Panganiban went 5-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in a 5-3 series-opening victory at Cal State Fullerton on Friday.

  • The Cerritos, Calif. product belted a solo home run in a 6-2 win in game two against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday to clinch the series.

  • Panganiban closed the week with three more hits as well as a timely RBI in the ninth inning for a 4-1 Matador triumph to complete the sweep of the Titans on Sunday.

  • CSUN is 14-9 overall and 5-4 in conference play. Panganiban is currently hitting .322 with seven home runs, 24 RBI, 22 runs scored and seven stolen bases.

  • Long Beach State starting pitcher Jason Gerfers pitched a second complete game in as many outings to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is the second straight weekly honor for Gerfers, having won the award last week.

  • In Sunday’s series finale at Cal State Bakersfield, the Beach freshman tossed all nine innings with a career-high 12 strikeouts, allowing only one run. LBSU defeated the Roadrunners 5-1 in the game to salvage the series.

  • The Calimesa, Calif. native allowed only four hits and retired the side in order in the first, sixth and seventh innings.

  • Gerfers is 2-1 with a 3.28 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 35.2 innings on the mound this season.
