Field Player of the Week J.C. Allen, UC San Diego | Senior • Third Baseman • Irvine, Calif.

• UC San Diego third baseman J.C. Allen slashed .588/.588/1.176 with 10 hits, two home runs, 10 RBI and three runs scored in a three-game sweep over CSUN to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor from the conference for Allen.


• The senior had four hits, including two doubles and a home run, with four RBI and two runs scored as the Tritons defeated the Matadors 17-16 in the series opener, Friday night.


• Allen went 3-for-4 with one double and one home run for two RBI and one run scored in a 6-4 triumph in game two of the series against CSUN on Saturday.


• In the series finale against the Matadors on Sunday, the Irvine, Calif. product collected three hits for four RBI as UC San Diego completed the sweep with a 12-4 victory.


• UC San Diego is 3-0 to start conference play. Allen is currently hitting .313 with four home runs, 19 RBI and 10 runs scored.

Pitcher of the Week Jason Gerfers, Long Beach State | Freshman • Right-Handed Pitcher • Calimesa, Calif.

• Long Beach State starting pitcher Jason Gerfers pitched a complete game against Hawai'i to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor for Gerfers.


• In Sunday’s series finale rubber match against the Rainbow Warriors, the Beach righty tossed all nine innings with seven strikeouts, allowing one run in 123 pitches. LBSU defeated Hawai’i 2-1 in the game to take the series.


• After retiring the first nine batters, the Calimesa, Calif. native allowed the only Rainbow Warrior run in the fourth, then settled in to strand runners in scoring position in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings, including closing the game with the tying run at third.


• Gerfers is 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 26.1 innings on the mound this season.
