Elisa Portillo Earns Weekly Honor After Becoming LBSU’s New All-Time Leading Scorer

  • 32247Senior Elisa Portillo broke a 20-year school record after scoring 11 goals on the weekend and now has 210 career goals, to take home The Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Kap7. This is the first weekly distinction of the attacker's career. 

  • The senior led Long Beach State to a 2-2 weekend at the Triton Invitational, recording a team-high four goals against No. 2 USC and a pair of hat tricks on the wins against No. 25 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 9 LMU. The record came after a penalty shot on the loss against No. 5 Hawai’i.

  • Portillo delivered a team-high four goals against No. 2 USC, keeping the Beach within striking distance in a marquee matchup against one of the nation’s elite programs. 

  • The weekend’s wins showcased Portillo at full throttle, as the senior recorded back-to-back hat tricks in victories over No. 25 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 9 LMU to anchor a 2-2 showing at the invite.

  • The record-breaking moment came on a penalty shot against No. 5 Hawai’i, passing Cassie Azevedo’s long-standing mark (2003–06) and cementing Portillo’s place atop the Long Beach State career scoring list.
