  • UC Irvine first baseman Alonso Reyes slashed .643/.706/.857 with nine hits, six RBI and one run scored in four games to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor from the conference for Reyes.

  • The redshirt junior had a two-hit performance with one RBI in a 5-2 mid-week home victory against San Diego State, Wednesday night.

  • Reyes went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a career-first stolen base in a 5-3 series-opening win at home against Cal on Friday.

  • The Inglewood, Calif. product collected two hits and two RBI in Saturday’s game two against the Golden Bears.

  • On Sunday, Reyes went 3-for-4, including a triple, with one run scored in the third game of the series against Cal.

  • UC Irvine has a 5-2 overall record to begin 2026. Reyes is currently hitting .480 and has accumulated eight RBI and four runs so far.

  • Cal Poly starting pitcher Griffin Naess pitched 7.0 innings of one-hit ball against Washington State to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is Naess’ second career weekly honor, having won it once last season.

  • In Friday’s home-opener versus the Cougars, the Mustang righty pitched seven shutout frames, striking out a career-high 14 in the process and allowed only one hit and no walks. Along with two other relievers, Naess and Cal Poly went on to shutout Washington 9-0 to open their four-game series.

  • The Laguna Beach, Calif. native struck out the side in the second, fifth and sixth innings.

  • Cal Poly is 4-2 to begin the 2026 season. Naess is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 14.0 innings of work.
