The Big West released its 2025 women's soccer schedule today, containing a 10-game round-robin format leading up to the 2025 Big West Women's Soccer Championships on Nov. 2, 6, and 9.
Big West teams will take the pitch on opening day on Thursday, Aug. 14. Conference action commences around the league on Thursday, Sept. 18 to start a seven-week slate. Each side will see five home matches, and three bye dates spread across the Thursday/Sunday rotation that concludes Oct. 30
A few of the marquee matchups and storylines include:
- Thursday, Sept. 18 (Week 1) Cal Poly at UC Santa Barbara — Another chapter of the historic Blue & Green rivalry takes place during our conference opener with the defending champs hosting a newly led Mustang squad.
- Sunday, Sept. 28 (Week 2) UC Santa Barbara at Hawai'i — Matchup between 2024's regular season and postseason champions. A year ago, the Rainbow Wahine bested the Gauchos at Harder Stadium to earn the regular season title, but on the contrary, UCSB returns to the same field where the team claimed the 2024 Championship.
- Thursday, Oct. 30 (Week 7) Cal State Fullerton at Cal State Bakersfield — The Roadrunners clinched their berth to the Big West Championship for the first time last year during the final week of the season. CSF has secured a spot in the postseason for five straight seasons, leading up to 2025. Will both squads be in playoff position the final week?
- Sunday, Oct. 27 (Week 6) Long Beach State at UC Irvine – during last year's first-round clash, UCI crept by LBSU and advanced to the semifinals with a 4-3 win in PKs following a scoreless draw in OT.
- Four new faces will be guiding their respective programs heading into the 2025 campaign. Bernado Silva is now at Cal Poly following a two-year stint with the Roadrunners that featured an appearance in the Big West title match last season. A trio of new leaders enter the league with CSUB's Whitney Pitalo, UCD's Kat Mertz, and UCR's Mike Dibbini.
Last year, UC Santa Barbara reigned supreme in clutch fashion after outlasting Cal State Bakersfield in a penalty kick shootout (8-7) to claim its first title since claiming back-to-back in 2008-09. The semifinals saw UCSB secure another close contest after edging UC Davis, 3-2 (2 OT), while CSUB took down top-seeded and host-site Hawai'i, 3-0.
The Gauchos represented the league as the Big West Champion against 14th-ranked Stanford in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
The first round of the six-team 2025 Big West Women's Soccer Championship kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 2, with the No. 3 seed hosting No. 6 and the No. 4 seed welcoming No. 5. Both matches will be held at the campuses of the higher-seeded squads.
Semifinal and championship rounds will take place at the home venue of the regular-season champion and top seed. The semifinal matchups are scheduled for Thursday, November 6, followed by the championship match on Sunday, November 9, where the 2025 Big West title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament will be on the line.
Select regular-season matches will air on the ESPN family of networks as part of the conference's multi-year, multi-platform media rights agreement. Fans are encouraged to check ESPN listings for broadcast details and game times throughout the season.
