Remembering Lauren Turner, Forever a Titan

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department is heartbroken to announce the news of the passing of women's soccer student-athlete Lauren Turner, who passed away on Friday, Nov. 7 after a nearly six-week stay in the ICU following a tragic off-campus traffic collision.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her parents, Christopher and Christine, her sisters Nicolette and Victoria, her teammates, coaches, staff members, friends and all who were fortunate to know her.

A native of Tustin, California, Turner was a sophomore on the women's soccer team.  She played in 10 games this season, making eight starts in multiple positions.  Lauren played a big part in the Titans historic unbeaten start to the 2025 season. She played the full 90 minutes in the Titans win at Pitt and played an integral role in helping the Titans earn their second ever win over an ACC opponent. She played in all 20 games last season, making 4 starts. Turner played in 30 career games and scored her first collegiate goal at home against UC Riverside last year.

"Our hearts are with the family, teammates, and friends of Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer student-athlete Lauren Turner," remarked Big West Commissioner Dan Butterly. "In an extraordinary act of strength and love, knowing Lauren had been moved to hospice care, the Titans chose to take the field in their Big West Women’s Soccer Semifinal match on Thursday night — playing for one another, and for Lauren — because they knew that is what she would have wanted.

"The courage of the Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer team, choosing to compete in honor of Lauren Turner, embodies everything we stand for: perseverance, togetherness, and the unbreakable bond of team. In times of heartbreak and triumph, we are reminded to seize every opportunity, every game, every day."

Statement from the 2025 Titans Soccer Team

"Lauren was the funniest, most charismatic, and loving teammate you could ever ask for.  She was the first to celebrate other people's wins.  She is the true definition of an amazing person.  She always carried herself with compassion, kindness, and happiness.  The impact she made on the Titans women's soccer program is immeasurable.  She will be dearly missed by everyone but forever remembered by her Titan family.  We love you Lauren, our No. 5 Forever"

The Titans women's soccer team and the Titans Athletics department will host a candlelight vigil in honor of Lauren Turner on Wednesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m. on the field at Titan Stadium. Fans can enter Titan Stadium via the South Entrance ramp down to the field.
