ITA Release
UC Santa Barbara senior Amelia Honer has been named an All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the second year in a row. The announcement was made Tuesday via the ITA website. Honer claims the 15th women's tennis All-America accolade for The Big West.
The criteria for ITA All-America singles honors include winning the ITA All-American Championship, advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Individual Championships, or finishing in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings.
The Newtown, Pa. product clinched a spot in the NCAA Women's Singles Championship by virtue of winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championship during the fall. In the spring, Honer went 17-2 in singles play, all at the No. 1 position, propelling UC Santa Barbara to the Big West regular-season title and Championship crown.
