Cal State Fullerton infielder Carter Johnstone slashed .391/.440/.783 with nine hits, three home runs, eight RBI and six runs in five games to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is Johnstone's first career weekly honor from the conference. The freshman started the week with a hit and RBI in a Tuesday matchup at Arizona State. Johnstone went 4-for-6 with one RBI and three runs as Cal State Fullerton prevailed 16-5 in the series opener against CSUN, Friday. The Los Gatos, Calif. product hit 4-for-5 with three home runs, six RBI and three runs as the Titans triumphed 10-8 in the series finale against CSUN, Sunday, to secure the sweep. Cal State Fullerton is 17-15 overall and 9-6 in league action. Johnstone is hitting .373 with 29 RBI, 31 runs and six home runs this season. UC Davis starting pitcher Bryan Green tossed eight innings of shutout ball against UC Santa Barbara to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is Green's first career weekly honor from the league. In the opening game of the weekend series against the Gauchos on Friday, the lefty threw a career-high 8.0 innings, giving up five hits, three walks and no runs with six strikeouts as the Aggies prevailed 1-0. The win was significant for the UC Davis program as it snapped a 17-game losing streak to UCSB. The Aggies are 14-15 overall and 4-8 in conference play. Green has a 2.45 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 40.1 innings of work this season.
