NCAA Release | NCAA Selection Show | Interactice Bracket
INDIANAPOLIS (Ind.) — Back-to-back Big West champion Hawai'i (21-4) was one of nine teams announced in the 2025 National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship bracket on Monday. This is the first time UH has punched consecutive tickets to the NCAA Championship since 2005-06.
The Rainbow Wahine earned the No. 4 seed and will compete in a rematch of last year's NCAA Championship Semifinal against California (19-5) in this year's quarterfinals of the national tournament on Friday, May 9 at 2 p.m. PT/11 a.m. HT. The 2025 NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship is hosted on the campus of IUPUI at the IU Natatorium, May 9-11. The announcement was made via selection show on NCAA.com.
Hawai'i received the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Championship by winning The Big West Championship for the sixth time in program history after stifling second-seeded LBSU by a score of 8-6 in the Championship Final. The winner of the match between UH and the Golden Bears is slated to face the winner of the top seed Stanford (22-1) and Wagner (21-8)/McKendree (21-7) contest. No. 2 UCLA (19-5), LMU (20-11), No. 3 Southern California (27-4) and Harvard (26-5) reside on the other side of the bracket.
UH's resume in 2025 shines bright with The Big West Championship title, a Big West regular season title with a perfect 7-0 conference record and 16 wins versus nationally ranked opponents this season. This is the sixth time that Hawai'i will compete in the NCAA Championship representing the conference.
A year ago, UH claimed an 11-6 win in the quarterfinal round over Princeton before falling to host-site California in the semifinal. When these two teams clashed in the regular season, UH prevailed and claimed revenge with a close 12-11 triumph in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
