  • UC Irvine outfielder Chase Call slashed .462/.579/.692 with six hits, five walks, five RBI and three runs scored in four games to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is Call's first career weekly honor from the conference.
     
  • The senior started the week by going 2-for-4 from the plate with a home run, two RBI and one run in a 5-3 home win over UCLA in a Tuesday mid-week matchup. 
     
  • Call hit 2-for-3 with one RBI in a 6-4 series-opening win at Cal Poly, Friday night. 
     
  • On Sunday, the Porter Ranch, Calif. product reached base in all six plate appearances with two hits, a run, two RBI and four walks, including one with the bases loaded in the ninth to tie the game. The Anteaters defeated the Mustangs 10-8 to complete the sweep. 
     
  • UC Irvine 32-9 overall and in first place in the league standings with a 19-2 record. Call is hitting .316 with 42 RBI, 46 runs and nine home runs.

  • Cal State Fullerton closer Andrew Wright recorded three saves in a series sweep at UC Davis to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is Wright's first career weekly honor. 
     
  • In the series opener, the Woodbridge, Calif. native threw two innings, allowed only one hit and struck out two as the Titans earned a 2-1 win. 
     
  • Wright came in the ninth inning with a runner on second and got three consecutive outs, bookended by strikeouts as Cal State Fullerton prevailed 2-0. 
     
  • The sophomore lefty did much of the same in Sunday's 8-5 win. Wright took the mound in the ninth inning and retired three Aggie batters in a row. 
     
  • Cal State Fullerton is 23-20 overall and in third place in the conference standings with a 14-7 record. Wright has nine saves on the season with a 0.82 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 33.0 innings of work.
