  • Cal State Fullerton outfielder/first baseman Andrew Kirchner slashed .571/.571/1.429 eight hits, four home runs, eight RBI and four runs in a three-game series against No. 8 Oregon State to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is Kirchner's first career weekly honor from the conference.
     
  • The junior started the weekend against the nationally-ranked Beavers hitting two solo home runs on Friday. 
     
  • Kirchner went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI and one run on Saturday. 
     
  • On Sunday, the Lakewood, Calif. product hit 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and one run. 
     
  • Cal State Fullerton is 17-18 overall and 9-6 in league action. Kirchner is hitting .322 with eight home runs, 27 runs scored and a conference-leading 47 RBI.

  • Long Beach State starting pitcher Kellan Montgomery tossed a complete game against Cal State Bakersfield to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is the Santa Barbara, Calif. native's second career weekly honor from the league, having won it once last season.
     
  • In the opening game of the weekend series at home against the Roadrunners, Montgomery threw nine innings, giving up for hits and two walks for one earned run, while compiling eight strikeouts as the Beach prevailed 3-2. 
     
  • The win was significant as it helped Long Beach State win the series over Cal State Bakersfield. 
     
  • Long Beach State is 14-19 overall and 8-10 in conference play. Montgomery is 6-3 with a 4.82 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 46.2 innings of work on the mound this season.
