Colin Yeaman slashed .467/.500/.933 with seven hits, two home runs, five runs and six RBI, leading UC Irvine to a 3-0 sweep over UC Santa Barbara, to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is Yeaman's first career weekly honor from the conference. The shortstop went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs as UC Irvine cruised to a 10- victory in the series opener against the Gauchos, Friday. Yeaman had another 3-for-5 performance with three RBI and a run in a 9-3 win in game two, Saturday. On Sunday, the Saugus, Calif. native hit a home run as the Anteaters claimed a sweep over UCSB with a 9-4 victory. UC Irvine is 17-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Yeaman is currently third in the conference in batting average at .394 with 29 runs, 29 RBI and seven home runs. Also Nominated: J.C. Pitcher of the Week Ricky Ojeda, UC Irvine | Sophomore • Left-Handed Pitcher • Valencia, Calif. UC Irvine relief pitcher Ricky Ojeda made two appearances and combined for 5.2 innings of shutout ball against UC Santa Barbara to earn The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is Ojeda’s first career weekly honor from the league. In Friday's series opener, the lefty threw 2.2 innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six batters to record a hold. In the series finale on Sunday, Ojeda earned the win with 3.0 innings of work, striking out five Gauchos and allowing one hit. UC Irvine is 17-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Ojeda is 4-0 with a 2.31 ERA and 34 strikeouts on the season.
