  • UC Irvine's Jacob McCombs slashed .526/.571/1.053 with 10 hits eight RBI, five runs, two triples and two home runs in four games to win The Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award. It is McCombs' first career weekly honor from the conference.  
     
  • The sophomore started the week with a hit in a mid-week matchup against USC, Tuesday. 
     
  • In Friday's series opener at Texas Tech, McCombs went 4-for-5 with a triple, home run, two runs and two RBI as UC Irvine prevailed 6-4. 
     
  • In the second game of the series on Saturday, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native hit 4-for-6 with a triple, two runs and four RBI. 
     
  • In the rubber match of the series on Sunday, McCombs hit a two-run homer as UC Irvine won the game, 11-10, and the series 2-1. 
     
  • UC Irvine is 4-3 to start the season. McCombs is hitting .452 with 11 RBI, 11 runs and thee home runs.

  • Cal Poly pitcher Tanner Sagouspe made three relief appearances during the week and tossed a total of 4.1 shutout innings to claim The Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. It is Sagouspe's first career weekly honor from the conference.   
     
  • The righty started the week by closing out the 9-1 win at LMU, Tuesday, giving up only one hit and no runs in the ninth inning. 
     
  • Sagouspe retired four batters, striking out two, Saturday at No. 1 Texas A&M. 
     
  • On Sunday, the Madera, Calif. product picked up the upset win over No. 1 Texas A&M after a pair of 1-2-3 innings to shut down one of the nation's best offenses. The Cal Poly offense scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to ignite the comeback victory. 
     
  • Sagouspe has made four relief appearances with a 0.00 ERA and 0.38 WHIP in 5.1 innings of work with seven strikeouts.
