UC Santa Barbara's Parker, Abshier of Hawai'i Claim Season's Final Weekly Honors

Hawai'i starting pitcher Randy Abshier threw eight innings of one run ball against Cal State Fullerton to claim The Big West Pitcher of the Week award. It is Abshier's third weekly honor from the conference, having won it once earlier this season (March 11) and once last year (April 24).
In an eventual 4-2 team victory in game two of the series on Friday, the senior allowed one run on three hits, one walk and compiled eight strikeouts.
The lefty retired the final 12 Titan batters in order and recorded career strikeout No. 200 during the outing.
Hawai'i finished its 2024 season on a five-game win streak with a 37-16 overall record, going 20-10 in conference play. Abshier went 5-4 with a 4.00 ERA, accumulating 90 strikeouts in 81.0 innings of work this year.

Field Player of the Week
Aaron Parker, UC Santa Barbara | Junior • Catcher • Los Altos, Calif.

UC Santa Barbara catcher Aaron Parker slashed .875/.923/1.700 with four RBI and four runs over four games to earn The Big West Field Player of the Week honor. It is Parker's first career weekly honor.
The junior started the final regular season series against UC Riverside with a 2-for-2 effort with three walks, one RBI and two runs in a 12-3 win in game one.
Parker went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs in a 20-4 victory in game two.
The catcher from Los Altos, Calif. hit 3-for-4 with two RBI in a 6-3 win in the regular season finale.
UC Santa Barbara won The Big West title with a 26-4 conference mark for a 42-12 overall record and earned a trip into the NCAA postseason. Parker goes into the NCAA tournament with a .374 batting average with 11 home runs, 50 RBI and 39 runs scored this season.
