Vanessa Betancourt, UC Riverside  Women's Golfer of the Month (February)  Senior • Huntington Beach, Calif.

• Helping UC Riverside to a program scoring record, Vanessa Betancourt claimed Big West Golfer of the Month for February. This marks Betancourt’s second such award of the year, also earning honors in September.  

• The senior posted a 69.8 stroke average in two events for the Highlanders, averaging under par in both the Long Beach State Tri-Dual and the GCU Spring Invite while carding 17 birdies across the two events combined. 

• At the Tri-Dual, Betancourt closed in a tie for third individually, finished the 27-hole event at 1-under 141 from Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert on Feb. 15-16. 

• Betancourt was the driving force behind UCR breaking its all-time 54-hole scoring record for the second time this season at the GCU Spring Invite Feb. 27-28 in Phoenix, Ariz. The Huntington Beach, Calif., product rolled in 13 birdies with a 67-70-71–208 (-8) to finish in a tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard.  

• The Highlanders closed in a tie for fourth as a team with the 10-under 854 setting a new program 54-hole best.
