Helping UC Riverside to a program scoring record, Vanessa Betancourt claimed Big West Golfer of the Month for February. This marks Betancourt’s second such award of the year, also earning honors in September.

The senior posted a 69.8 stroke average in two events for the Highlanders, averaging under par in both the Long Beach State Tri-Dual and the GCU Spring Invite while carding 17 birdies across the two events combined.

At the Tri-Dual, Betancourt closed in a tie for third individually, finished the 27-hole event at 1-under 141 from Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert on Feb. 15-16.

Betancourt was the driving force behind UCR breaking its all-time 54-hole scoring record for the second time this season at the GCU Spring Invite Feb. 27-28 in Phoenix, Ariz. The Huntington Beach, Calif., product rolled in 13 birdies with a 67-70-71–208 (-8) to finish in a tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard.

The Highlanders closed in a tie for fourth as a team with the 10-under 854 setting a new program 54-hole best.
