Lucia Gomez de la Puente Claims Third Straight Weekly Honor for Hawai'i

  • 8036Hawai'i senior attacker Lucia Gomez de la Puente compiled 11 goals and eight assists to lead the Rainbow Wahine to a 3-1 record at the Triton Invitational and earn The Big West Player of the Week award. It the first career weekly accolade for Gomez de la Puente and the third consecutive time this season that a Rainbow Wahine has been bestowed the honor after Bia Mantellato Dias (Jan. 24) and Bernadette Doyle (Jan. 31).

  • The senior started the tournament with scored three goals and a season-best four assists in a 21-7 win against No. 22 San Diego State.

  • The Madrid, Spain product had three goals and two assists in a 14-9 triumph over Big West foe and 16th-ranked UC Davis. 
  • Gomez de la Puente tallied a season-high four goals in a narrow 13-12 overtime loss to No. 3 UCLA, posting a hat trick in the first quarter alone. 

  • The Rainbow Wahine attacker closed the weekend with a goal and two assists in a 10-6 victory over No. 1 USC, the first win Hawai'i has had over the Trojans since 2006. 

  • Hawai'i is off to an 8-1 start in its 2024 campaign, has knocked off two No. 1-ranked opponents, and rated second in the latest CWPA national rankings. Gomez de la Puente has amassed 20 goals and 14 assists this season for a team-leading 34 points.
