Long Beach State starting pitcher Kellan Montgomery tossed seven innings and allowed only four hits in a win against Omaha to claim The Big West Pitcher of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor for Montgomery.

In an eventual 4-1 team victory in the final game of the series on Sunday, the sophomore allowed only four hits for a run, which was unearned, and seven strikeouts to complete the series sweep over the Mavs.

The righty did not give up a walk in the strong outing, throwing a total of 93 pitches, 65 for strikes.

Long Beach State swept Omaha in the weekend series and is 5-0-1 to start the 2024 season. Montgomery currently has a 0.75 ERA in 12.0 innings with 12 strikeouts this year.
