In an eventual 3-1 team victory on opening day, the junior set the Tritons’ Division I single-game program record with 11 strikeouts and had a perfect game through 4.0 innings against the defending Mountain West champion Spartans.

The San Marcos, Calif. product struck out at least two batters in each inning and closed out the performance by striking out the side in the fifth frame. Forcucci threw 64 total pitches with 46 being strikes.

UC Irvine's Thomas McCaffrey slashed .429/.583/1.714 with three home runs, 9 RBI and three runs in a three-game series sweep against North Dakota State to earn The Big West Field Player of the Week honor. It is the second career weekly honor for McCaffrey after winning it once during the 2022 season (April 25). 

The senior went 1-for-2 on opening day, the hit being a grand slam, with a walk and five RBI as the Anteaters earned a 14-2 win over the Bisons Friday night.

On Saturday, the Santa Monica, Calif. product hit a pair of two-run home runs, including one that broke a 1-1 tie, providing the eventual winning runs in a 7-2 victory. On the day, the Anteater catcher went 2-or-3 with four RBI and a walk.
