Mantellato Dias of Hawai'i Claims Season's First Player of the Week Honor

  • 8036Hawai'i sophomore center Bia Mantellato Dias compiled six goals, two assists and eight drawn exclusions in two wins at the Polo-Palooza tournament, hosted by Fresno State, to earn The Big West Player of the Week award. It the fourth career weekly honor for Mantellato Dias after winning it three times (Feb. 8, March 29, April 5) last season. 

  • The reigning Big West Player of the Year scored four goals, all in the second half, and drew five exclusions in a 14-11 overtime win against No. 13 Michigan. 

  • The São Paulo, Brazil product scored twice and drew three exclusions as the Rainbow Wahine upset two-time defending national champion and top-ranked Stanford in overtime, 9-7. Mantellato Dias' second goal knotted the game at 7-7 and forced overtime. It was the first win against the Cardinal in Hawai'i program history. 
  • Hawai'i is off to a 2-0 start in its 2024 campaign and ranked fourth in the latest CWPA national rankings.
