IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West unveiled its 2023 women’s soccer conference schedule today, featuring a 10-game round-robin format culminating in the 2023 Big West Women's Soccer Championships Oct. 29-Nov. 5.

Non-conference activity begins around the league on Aug. 17. Conference play in The Big West begins on Thursday, Sept. 14 with with four matches on the docket, kicking off a seven-week slate. Each side will see five home matches and three bye dates dotted throughout the Thursday-Sunday rotation that ends on Oct. 26. 

Some of the premier matchups include: 

• Thursday, Sept. 14 (Week 1) - UC Irvine at Long Beach State - a rematch of the 2022 Big West Championship matchup. The Anteaters bested the Beach 3-0 to claim the title
• Sunday, Oct. 1 (Week 3) - UC Irvine at Hawai'i - in the final week of the 2022 regular season, the Anteaters and Rainbow Wahine were in a win-and-you're-in showdown to cap the conference slate. UC Irvine wrestled away the final spot in the field by virtue of its come-from-behind 4-1 defeat of visiting Hawai’i. UH will be looking to climb into the postseason for just the second time in program history after making their only other appearance in 2019.
• Sunday, Oct. 15 (Week 5) - UC Davis at Cal State Fullerton - the Aggies and Titans capped last season tied in points with 20 apiece. In their 2022 meeting, the host Aggies came away with the 2-1 victory to give UC Davis the tiebreaker over the Titans for the second seed in the bracket.
• Thursday, Oct. 19 (Week 6) - Cal Poly at UC Davis - the top two seeds in 2022's bracket meet up in Davis with the Aggies looking to reverse the decision from a year ago when Cal Poly was victorious at home in a 2-0 decision on Oct. 6, 2022. The Aggies closed the regular season winning their last five contests after the blemish against the Mustangs with Cal Poly rolling into the postseason unblemished (5-0-2) in their last seven. Both sides fell in their semifinal matchups in San Luis Obispo.

In 2022, UC Irvine raced through the championship bracket as the sixth seed, claiming back-to-back Big West titles and trips to the NCAA Championship. UCI needed overtime on the road at No. 3-seeded Cal State Fullerton to advance to the final site after a 2-0 victory. The semifinals saw the Anteaters take down second-seeded UC Davis at Cal Poly, 1-0, also an overtime affair. In the Championship, UC Irvine downed No. 4 seed Long Beach State, 3-0, a third-straight shutout win in The Big West Championship.

UCI went on to advance to the third round of the NCAA Championship, upending No. 14 USC 2-0 to open with a first-round victory over a Pac-12 host for the second-consecutive season. In the second round, the Anteaters played to a 1-1 draw against Brown before advancing 4-2 on penalty kicks. UC Irvine's campaign ended in the third round against national semifinalist and host No. 3 Alabama. It was the longest national postseason run since 2011, when Long Beach State competed in the quarterfinals. 

The first round of the six-team 2023 Big West Women's Soccer Championship will be hosted at the higher seeded team as the No. 3 seed takes on the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed hosts the No. 5 seed on Sunday, Oct. 29. Then, the advancing teams converge at the site of the regular-season champion and top seed to play the semifinal and championship matches. The semifinal round is set for Thursday, Nov. 2 with the battle for The Big West crown coming on Sunday, Nov. 5.
