IRVINE, Calif. -- A total of 751 student-athletes who competed in the spring sports of baseball, beach volleyball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track & field, men's volleyball, and women's water polo across The Big West were honored for their work in the classroom and in athletic competition as members of the 2023 Big West Spring Academic All-Conference Team. The total is an improvement from 738 last year. 
 
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference accolade, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative institutional grade point average (GPA), must have completed one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's contests in the student-athlete's respective sport.

Twelve honorees sported a perfect 4.00 GPA in Cal Poly's Brooke Golik (Beach Volleyball), John Bennett (Men's Track & Field) and Shelby Daniele (Women's Track & Field), CSU Bakersfield's Michael Pollard (Baseball), CSUN's Lacey Hall (Women's Water Polo) and Victoria Rogers (Beach Volleyball), Hawai'i's Lea Kruse (Beach Volleyball), Long Beach State's Aidan Knipe (Men's Volleyball), UC Santa Barbara's Lauren Lum (Women's Track & Field), and UC San Diego's Zavier Annis (Men's Track & Field), Megan Mattson (Women's Track & Field) and Isabelle Shepherd (Women's Track & Field). 
 
UC San Diego produced the most spring honorees with 104, with UC Santa Barbara in second at 90. UC Davis (78) and UC Irvine (77), Cal State Fullerton (66), Hawai'i (65), Long Beach State (62) and CSUN (61) rounded out the schools with over 60 honorees. By sport, women’s track & field had 169 awardees, followed by men's track & field with 108. Softball and baseball earned 103 and 95 honorees, respectively.  Every school in the conference had at least one Academic All-Conference selection in each sport it sponsors in the spring.
 
The Big West recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter, and spring – for all conference-sponsored sports. The Fall Academic All-Conference Team honored student-athletes from men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball and the Winter Academic All-Conference Team consisted of men's and women's basketball student-athletes.
