UC Riverside's Tiffany Le Goes Low in Second Round of NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - After a ninth sub-70 round of the season, UC Riverside’s Tiffany Le leapt up 58 spots in the individual standings after the second round of the 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships from Grayhawk Golf Club on Saturday.

Le, a sophomore for the Highlanders, carded a 4-under 68 to move into a tie for 32nd in the 150-player field. Beginning on the 10th tee, Le finished the front nine with birdie-bogey-birdie to head into the turn at 1-under for the day. A birdie on hole No. 2 moved The Big West Golfer of the Year to 2-under. An eagle on the 474-yard Par 5 seventh punctuated Le’s round to bring the 36-hole total to 1-under 143.

Le is one of 12 golfers in the field to card an eagle through the first two days of action. Playing the distance holes with a 4.50 stroke average, Le sits in a tie for eighth in Par 5 scoring. Le is also one of seven golfers who improved their individual standing by at least 50 places after the second round of play. Additionally, Le is one of a dozen golfers to fire a Day 2 score of 68 or better.

Individually, Wake Forest’s Lauren Walsh edged up one place to the top of the leaderboard at 10-under through 36 holes followed by USC’s Catherine Park and Day 1 leader Maddison Hinson-Tolchard of Oklahoma State. The team leaderboard sees the Demon Deacons leading defending champion Stanford and South Carolina for the top 3 places.

Playing again from the 10th tee, Le's third round is set to start Sunday at 8:22 a.m. Following the third round, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top nine individuals not on an advancing team. If the standings hold pat through Sunday’s round, Le is on track to make the cut and play all 72 holes of stroke play.
