Graysen Tarlow, CSUN
Baseball Field Player of the Week
Redshirt Sophomore • Catcher • Orange, Calif. |

- Graysen Tarlow led CSUN to a three-game series sweep over visiting Stony Brook to kick off the Eddie Cornejo era in Northridge, batting .636 (7-for-11) and slugging 1.000 with nine RBI to become a first-time Big West Field Player of the Week.
- The third-year sophomore catcher had five runs, one double, a first collegiate home run, one walk of the intentional variety in Sunday’s finale, two stolen bases on two attempts, a .667 on-base percentage, and just one strikeout all weekend. Tarlow started the first two games of the set behind the plate and handled all 18 defensive chances cleanly.
- Tarlow began 2023 by going 5-for-5 in Friday’s opener with three runs and a career-high six RBI. The Orange native launched a one-out, first-pitch, opposite-field grand slam to right field that broke a 1-1 tie in the second as the Matadors went on to the 20-5 romp, and added an RBI single in the third and leadoff double in the fifth, also on first pitches.
- A graduate of Orange Lutheran High School, Tarlow went on to open the scoring in Saturday’s 14-4 victory through an RBI single in a five-run first, and provide a two-out, two-run, pinch-hit single in the sixth inning on Sunday that turned a 2-2 deadlock into an 8-2 CSUN triumph.
- Tarlow leads The Big West in RBI through the first three days of the new campaign after sitting out 2021 due to injury and driving in three runs all last year in 35 appearances.
- Tarlow is the Matadors’ first Big West Field Player of the Week since former teammate Kai Moody earned the award early last season on Feb. 28. CSUN outscored Stony Brook, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association out of Stony Brook, N.Y., 42-11 in the series.

Graham Osman, Long Beach State
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Redshirt Junior • Left-Handed Pitcher • Morrison, Colo. |
- Graham Osman fired seven full innings of a combined shutout in a stellar Long Beach State debut last Friday to garner a first Big West Pitcher of the Week nod.
- Taking the ball from fourth-year head coach Eric Valenzuela on Opening Night on Bohl Diamond at Blair Field, Osman allowed just one single while striking out eight. The fourth-year junior southpaw and first-year Arizona State transfer issued one walk and tossed 75 pitches (53 strikes) to face two over the minimum before handing things over to Ethan Clough and Josh Haley for the final six outs of a 2-0 Beach victory.
- A native of Morrison, Colo., Osman retired the first eight Shocker batters in order before committing a two-out fielding error in the third. A popout ended that frame. Wichita State would only then get a one-out single in the fourth, and a leadoff walk in the sixth that was wiped out two pitches later by a lineout double-play. Osman set down two final batters in the seventh via swinging strikeout.
