Rocco Peppi, Long Beach State
Baseball Field Player of the Week
RS Freshman • Outfielder • Huntington Beach, Calif. |

- Rocco Peppi batted .417 (5-for-12) and slugged .833 with five runs, two doubles, one home run, seven RBI, two walks, two hit-by-pitches and a .563 on-base percentage while guiding Long Beach State to its fifth straight series victory to end the 2022 campaign, as the Dirtbags swept UC Davis on the road. The redshirt freshman led LBSU in runs, RBI, extra-base hits and slugging, and made four clean putouts in the outfield.
- Peppi, a Huntington Beach native, produced at least one hit in all three meetings with the Aggies, with a pair of two-hit efforts on Friday and Saturday. In the middle contest, a 13-1 run-rule affair in eight innings, he went 2-for-3 with a double, his fifth home run, four RBI, and season-high-tying totals of four runs and two walks.
- Peppi drove in all three runs in Saturday’s season finale, a 3-0 shutout, on a third-inning single and a two-run, first-pitch, seventh-inning double. His two hit-by-pitches in the series put him in a three-way tie for first in The Big West with 19 on the year. Peppi started all 54 games he appeared in, missing just two contests, and led the Dirtbags with a .321 batting average.
- Long Beach State’s late-season surge moved it into a fourth-place tie with CSUN in the standings. The final sweep had the Dirtbags finish above the .500 mark both overall (29-27) and in The Big West (17-13).
- Peppi is now a two-time Big West Field Player of the Week, having previously earned the honor back on March 14. He bookended the award this season with fellow Dirtbag Jonathon Long (Feb. 21), with LBSU also picking up four pitcher distinctions during this 2022 campaign.

- Junior southpaw Tyler Stultz went a season-long 8.1 innings and produced a season-high 11 strikeouts in combining on Cal State Fullerton’s 2-0 shutout triumph in Thursday night’s series opener with UC Irvine at Goodwin Field. The Titans would go on to take Saturday’s rubber game, 9-3, for a season-ending series victory.
- A first-year Titan out of Ohlone College, Stultz scattered six singles while walking a pair of ‘Eaters and hitting one. He earned credit for the third combined shutout of his major college career. - Thursday’s performance improved Stultz’s win-loss mark to an even 5-5. He drew 14 starts among 15 appearances, with a 3.36 ERA and team-leading totals of 88.1 innings pitched and 86 strikeouts.
- Stultz is a first-time honoree. He is Cal State Fullerton’s second straight pitcher selection to end 2022, following Fynn Chester from a week ago. Teammate Jackson Lyon was the field player choice back on April 18.
