Joe Yorke, Cal Poly
Baseball Field Player of the Week
Sophomore • First Baseman • Campbell, Calif. |

- Joe Yorke batted .579 (11-for-19) in aiding Cal Poly to a perfect 4-0 week that included the Mustangs’ first ever series victory at Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field. He scored four runs and drove in 11 with four doubles, a home run and two walks. Yorke was charged with just his second error of 2022 over 35 defensive chances (.971).
- The sophomore first baseman, a second-year Mustang who spent his freshman season in 2020 at Boise State, extended his reached-base and hit streaks to 25 and 17 games, respectively.
- On Tuesday against Pepperdine, Yorke produced his second five-hit effort in four games and five days. He had gone 5-for-5 against visiting CSU Bakersfield on Friday, May 6, and followed it up by finishing 5-for-6 in another 16-4 home romp over the Waves, with two doubles, two runs and three RBI.
- Yorke’s third home run of the season was a two-run blast in the fourth inning against the Titans on Saturday. He also drove in runs via first-inning double, second-inning walk and ninth-inning single, winding up 3-for-4 with a career-high five RBI in the 6-2 triumph. The Campbell native was 6-for-13 (.462) with eight RBI in Fullerton.
