Long Beach State sophomore Isaac Rodea won his first collegiate tournament as he fired a 65-69-69 for 13-under par at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic en route to Big West Golfer of the Month for April.

His first-round score of 65 ties the Long Beach State record for the best first round. Rodea's total of 203 for 13-under was just one stroke short of the individual Cowboy Classic Tournament record of 202 (-14) set in 2021.

With his strong showing, Rodea led Long Beach State to a runner-up finish as the Beach shot 26-under par for their best team showing of the season. Rodea went on to help Long Beach State to another runner-up performance at the El Macero Classic, as the Beach shot 6-under par and finished just one stroke out of first place.

Rodea and the Beach are set to compete in the 2022 Big West Men’s Golf Championships beginning Sunday, May 1, from La Quinta Country Club.
