  • Third-year sophomore CSU Bakersfield centerfielder Jashia Morrissey reached base safely in 11 of 14 plate appearances while leading his Roadrunners to a three-game road sweep at UC Riverside to begin The Big West play.
  • The Los Angeles native slashed .750/.846/1.375, going 6-for-8 with five runs, a triple, one home run, four RBI, one stolen base, and five walks against a single strikeout. Morrissey also handled all seven defensive chances cleanly in center field, with his second outfield assist of 2022.
  • Morrissey raised his batting average from .211 to .304, his on-base percentage from .262 to .400, and his slugging from .368 to .543 as a result of his stellar weekend. He did not make an out in nine trips to the plate over the final two games. One of his three outs in the series was a sacrifice bunt.
  • Morrissey went 3-for-3 with his first collegiate triple, second home run, three runs and two RBI in Sunday’s finale, falling a double shy of a cycle. He threw out a UCR runner at the plate in Friday night’s opener.
  • This is Morrissey’s first career Big West Field Player of the Week nod.

  • The third-year sophomore matched his season long of 7.0 innings, allowing two singles, one walk and a hit-by-pitch while reaching double-figure strikeouts for his second time as a collegian with 10 punch-outs, including the side in order in his final frame. • Ramirez continues to lead The Big West in ERA, which was lowered on Friday down to a minuscule 0.36, fourth nationally. It marked his third scoreless outing of 2022 among his four starts.
  • Ramirez is a two-time Big West Pitcher of the Week, having also earned this season’s first such acclaim on Feb. 21 after his combined shutout at then-third-ranked defending national champion Mississippi State.
