- Redshirt freshman Rocco Peppi led Long Beach State to a 3-1 week at home, including a series win over No. 25 Gonzaga.
- Peppi slashed .462/.588/.923 in the four games with two home runs, five RBI and five runs. He walked twice and was hit by a pitch two times without a strikeout, and handled all three putouts cleanly in left field.
- Against Gonzaga, the Huntington Beach product recorded a two-hit game in Friday night’s opener. Peppi followed that up with a career day on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with his first two collegiate long balls and season highs of three runs, five RBI and nine total bases.
- Peppi, a first-time Big West Field Player of the Week, wrapped up his weekend by hitting a one-out single in the ninth and scoring the game’s lone run from second in Sunday’s series-clinching finale, on Tyler Porter’s walk-off single.

- Cal Poly redshirt sophomore right-hander Drew Thorpe pitched a three-hit shutout at home against Harvard on Friday night as the Mustangs blanked the Crimson, 5-0.
- Thorpe’s first nine-inning complete game gave Cal Poly its first shutout of the season and served as the program’s first individual nine-inning shutout in four years, since May 4, 2018.
- The Utah native struck out 11 without a walk, and did not allow a Harvard runner to reach third base, retiring the first 10 batters he faced and the side in order six times in all.
- Thorpe, now 2-0 with a 2.22 ERA this season, has notched double-digit strikeouts in all four of his starts in 2022 to give him eight such efforts as a collegian, and leads The Big West in the category by 13.
- Thorpe is now a two-time Pitcher of the Week, with a previous distinction on Feb. 24, 2020.
