UC Santa Barbara To Play Pepperdine In NCAA Men’s Tennis First Round

Big West Tournament champion UC Santa Barbara drew Pepperdine in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship on Friday, May 7 at the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium on the campus of USC.

The match begins at 10:00 a.m. The host Trojans and Grand Canyon follow in another first round match at 1:00 p.m.

UCSB captured its conference record sixth tournament crown last weekend at the Orange County Great Park. The third-seeded Gauchos defeated second-seeded UC Irvine and top-seeded Cal Poly to claim their 11th title in the last 15 years, and a league-high tying 14th overall.

Thirteen of those championships have come under head coach Marty Davis.

UCSB defeated Texas Tech in its last NCAA appearance, the first round of the 2019 tournament.

The winners of Friday’s contests will meet in the second round on Saturday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m.
