• Earning his second career Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award, UC Irvine junior Mike Peabody steered his team one step closer to a league title with a dominant performance at the plate.
• Peabody hit .556 (10-for-18) with three runs scored and a team-best six RBI as the Anteaters took three of four on the road from CSU Bakersfield.
• He recorded at least one hit in every game to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.
• The center fielder started the series with two straight four-hit games going 8-for-9 at one point. In the opener, he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in an 11-5 win.
• Peabody slammed his eighth home run of the year – a three-run shot in the eighth – in Saturday’s 11-9 loss.
• His 3 RBI effort in game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader marked the seventh straight game he had recorded at least one RBI. He leads the Big West with 51 RBI this season.
• Peabody posted an .833 slugging percentage for the week.

• UC Irvine freshman Nick Pinto collected his second Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award this season after tossing a gem against CSU Bakersfield.
• The southpaw hurled 7.2 innings, scattering seven hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 victory on Saturday over the ‘Runners. The run he allowed was unearned.
• He also had a pickoff of a runner attempting to steal.
• Pinto’s 10 strikeout performance came after he fanned 12 against UC Riverside a week ago. He has struck out 31 batters over the last 20.1 innings.
• Pinto struck out the side in the fourth inning, and whiffed at least one batter in each of the first seven frames.
• Pinto lowered his ERA to 3.66 on the year. Over his last three starts, he has allowed just four runs (two earned) for a sparkling 0.90 ERA.
