• Cal Poly redshirt freshman Brooks Lee notched his third Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week award this season after helping the Mustangs complete a series sweep of Cal State Fullerton for the first time since 2014.

• Lee highlighted the week with his first collegiate grand slam and finished with a .500 (9-for-18) average with five runs scored and seven RBI.

• He produced multiple hits in three of the four games to increase his team-leading total to 20 multiple-hit games this season.

• In Saturday’s opener, Lee extended Cal Poly’s lead to 8-2 with a sixth inning grand slam on the first pitch thrown. It was his eighth homer of the year.

• Lee went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a double, a homer and a career-best six RBI in Saturday’s 13-3 victory.

• The San Luis Obispo native also doubled four times, including twice in a 10-0 win, to end the series with an .889 slugging percentage.

• Lee leads the Big West in doubles (21), RBI (46) and total bases (115).

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

• CSUN sophomore Gavin Lizik earned his first career Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor with a stellar performance in a conference win over Hawai‘i.

• Lizik hurled his first career complete game and shutout in a 12-0, seven-inning run-rule victory over the Rainbow Warriors in Saturday’s first game of a doubleheader.

• The seven innings pitched was a career-high as was his nine strikeouts.

• Lizik allowed just two hits and two walks, and avoided trouble for the most part as only two UH baserunners reached scoring position. Only two batters hit the ball into the outfield for the whole game.

• Lizik allowed two runners to reach base in the first, but escaped any damage.

• He retired the final nine batters in a row.
