• UC San Diego senior Bennett Bugelli put forth a dominating performance in goal to notch her first career Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week award.
• The goalkeeper made a career-high 17 saves to lead the Tritons to a 9-8, sudden death overtime victory over No. 17 San Diego State in Friday’s season opener.
• Of the eight goals Bugelli allowed, only four were scored against an even defense as she finished the game with a .680 save percentage.
• Bugelli also added a steal to contribute further to the solid defensive effort from the Tritons.
