• Long Beach State newcomer Elena Kotanchyan captured her first career Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week award as was the team’s leading goal scorer at the Wolverine Invitational.
• Kotanchyan scored 19 goals over four games to lead the Beach to a 3-1 record.
• The attacker scored a career-high seven goals in a 22-11 victory over St. Francis (PA) in the tournament opener. She then equaled that mark in a 17-14 slugfest with No. 22 Bucknell.
• Kotanchyan also scored two goals against tournament host and No. 7-ranked Michigan in a 12-9 loss.
• In the tournament finale, she posted her third hat trick of the event with three goals in a 13-7 triumph over Santa Clara. She added a steal to her stat line.
• She had three assists in addition to her seven goals versus St. Francis (PA), playing a role in nearly half of the Beach’s offense. She also tallied a steal.
