• UC Santa Barbara junior Armani Smith is a first-time winner of Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week accolades after helping his squad to a 4-0 record.
• The right fielder hit .438 (7-for-16) with four doubles, one home run, four RBIs and three runs as the Gauchos won a mid-week game against CSU Bakersfield and swept CSUN in a road conference series.
• Smith had two hits in all three games against the Matadors, and four of his seven knocks in the series went for extra bases. He finished the week with an .875 slugging percentage.
• He went 2-for-4 with a double and his ninth homer of the season in Friday’s 16-7 win over CSUN. He scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Smith ranks fifth in the Big West with his nine homers.
• The Martinez native doubled two more times in Saturday’s 4-2 win.
• On Sunday, Smith collected two more hits, including the game-winning two-RBI single that lifted UCSB to the 5-3 triumph.

ADAM SEMINARIS, LONG BEACH STATE – BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

• Long Beach State sophomore Adam Seminaris tossed a gem against UC Riverside to earn his first career Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award.
• The lefty struck out a career-high 10 batters in a career-best eight innings of work as the Dirtbags defeated the Highlanders, 6-1, on Friday.
• Seminaris fanned at least one batter in seven of the eight frames he pitched.
• He stranded the bases loaded in the sixth and eight innings.
• Seminaris allowed eight hits and a pair of walks, but never caved in as the Highlanders left 11 men on base for the game.
