Junior Katia Andon-Mateos garnered her first career Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week award as she scored a total of 10 goals to lead CSUN at the Indiana Classic.
• Andon-Mateos helped the Matadors to a 3-1 weekend with at least one goal in all four matches, including three multiple scoring efforts.
• The attacker scored two goals apiece on day one as CSUN fell to No. 15 Wagner (11-10) and defeated Cal State East Bay (11-9).
• She combined for six goals in a pair of Matador wins on day two of the tournament.
• After scoring once in a 13-7 win over Salem University, Andon-Mateos exploded for a season-high five tallies in a 11-10 victory over the host and 20th-ranked Indiana.
• Andon-Mateos also posted a pair of assists against the Hoosiers as she played in role in seven of CSUN’s 11 goals.
• Four of her five goals came in the third period against Indiana, sparking a three-goal comeback.
