MIKE PEABODY, UC IRVINE – BASEBALL FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK

• UC Irvine produced a school record total for runs in a three-game series, and Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week Mike Peabody was a central piece in the offensive outburst.
• The outfielder hit .692 (9-for-13), scored eight runs and had six RBI as one of the key catalysts in UCI’s road sweep of Utah Valley, in which the ‘Eaters outscored the Wolverines 49-8 in the series.
• The 49 runs surpassed the previous record for most runs in a weekend series – 44 in 1974.
• Four of Peabody’s nine hits went for extra bases as he slugged 1.231 for the week. He doubled twice, and hit both his first career triple and home run in Sunday’s 17-4 triumph to finish 4-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBI.
• Peabody had multiple hits and RBI in all three games. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the 15-0 series-opening win. In another 17-4 victory on Saturday, Peabody drove home two more runs, each with two outs, and finished 3-for-4 while scoring three times.
• The Tustin product reached base 12 times in 16 at-bats for a .750 on-base percentage.
• He also stole a base in Saturday’s victory.

ANDRE PALLANTE, UC IRVINE – BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

• Amidst offensive fireworks at Utah Valley, junior Andre Pallante delivered an exceptional performance on the mound for UC Irvine and claimed Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors.
• The right-hander collected his third career award after thwarting Utah Valley with seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball in Friday’s 15-0 victory. UC Irvine scored 49 runs in the series, but Pallante kept the Wolverines off the board in his outing.
• Pallante had a perfect game going until the first batter of the fifth when he hit a batter. He allowed his only hit on bloop single down the right field line to lead off the sixth, breaking up his no-hit bid.
• Pallante fanned five Wolverine hitters and walked two. He extended his scoreless innings streak to 18.2 innings in picking up his third win of the season, tied with seven others for the Big West lead.
