Jones Shuts Down Two Big West Opponents

UC Irvine sophomore Morgan Jones was stout in net, earning Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors for her play against No. 4 Hawai‘i and No. 9 UC Davis.

• Jones made 19 saves combined in the two matches. She helped the Anteaters knock off the Rainbow Wahine (7-6) and Aggies (11-4) at home as UCI pulled into a first place tie with UH in the league standings.

• Jones registered a .625 save percentage against UH with just six goals allowed in all 32 minutes of action. She notched 10 saves and a steal to help No. 8 UCI to the upset win.

• Against the Aggies, Jones allowed just a pair of goals and tallied nine saves for an .818 save percentage.

• She added two steals in the UC Davis match.

• For the week, Jones posted a minuscule 4.24 goals against average.
