CSUN senior Madeleine Sanchez (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) scored eight goals over three matches to garner Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week accolades.

The attacker helped the Matadors post a 2-1 record while increasing her season goals total to 43 – No. 2 in the Big West.

Sanchez also moved into second place in CSUN history with 218 career goals.  She needs five more goals to break the school record.

In a 14-4 win over No. 25 Cal State East Bay, Sanchez notched four goals.  She collected a goal, two assists, a steal and a field block before receiving her third exclusion in the fourth quarter against No. 12 Hartwick, a game the Matadors eventually lost, 12-11, in overtime.

Sanchez closed out the week with another hat trick – three goals, two assists and a field block in a commanding 16-3 victory over Redlands.

She also ranks No. 2 in the conference with 29 assists.
