2018 Big West Coin Drive Halfway Release



The 11th annual Big West Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Coin Drive has reached the midway point and the nine conference institutions have raised $4,462.56 so far.

UC Riverside has collected $861.00 to lead all Big West SAAC’s, while UC Irvine is second with $656.81.  Long Beach State is in third at the halfway mark with $649.32.

The Coin Drive is a group effort as each school’s SAAC collects coins during the month of February to donate to a charity of its choice.  Last year, the Big West SAAC’s raised $20,252.56, the fifth-greatst total in the drive’s 10-year history.

Since the Coin Drive commenced in 2008, Big West schools have now raised over $200,000 for various charities, with a 10-year aggregate of $196,801.62.

Each institution’s SAAC has a location on campus to collect for its charity of choice through the end of this month. For the fourth time in the coin drive’s history, 100 percent of the funds raised will go directly to the designated charities. The top three fundraising SAAC’s will receive a cash prize to put towards their SAAC budget.
