Long Beach State senior Christina Kotsia (Athens, Greece/Nea Smirni 5 HS) scored four of the team’s eight goals in a conference victory for Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week accolades.
The four goals tied her season high, accomplished on two other occasions – Sonoma State (Feb. 11), Whittier (Mar. 17). Kotsia lifted her season total to a team-best 36 goals.
On the road against the No. 22-ranked Matadors, Kotsia contributed to a five-goal fourth quarter, which erased a 4-3 deficit and gave the Beach an 8-7 victory. She notched her third and fourth goals of the game in that deciding quarter.
Kotsia also got LBSU going in the first period with both a perimeter and a counter goal as the team took an early 2-1 lead.
LBSU now has won eight of its last 11 contests.
