UC Santa Barbara is 7-0 for the first time since 1990 and looks to extend its undefeated streak this weekend on the road. UCSB is one of just six teams that remains perfect in NCAA women’s soccer.
UCSB IN MIDST OF HISTORIC CAMPAIGN
The Gauchos’ best-ever streak to open a campaign was in 1989 when Santa Barbara went 12-0 before dropping a contest. UCSB’s six straight shutouts ties its school record also set in 1989. The 7-0 start is the second-best streak in program history.
ROGERS IS ONE OF NATION’S BEST
UC Santa Barbara sophomore keeper Brittney Rogers has recorded her sixth-straight shutout to lead the nation with a 1.00 save percentage and a .000 goals against average. The goalkeeper has helped UCSB equal its best shutout-streak in the program’s history.
BALL CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
UC Santa Barbara’s Amanda Ball is making noise on the national scene as she cracks the country’s top 10 in multiple categories: goals (7, T-6th), game winning goals (3, T-6th), goals per game (1.17, T-3rd) and points per game (2.50, 9th).
HAWAI‘I BIDS FOR BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY
Hawai‘i has put together one of its best starts in program history at 6-1-1. Should the Rainbow Wahine clinch a win over Air Force Tuesday, UH would compile its best nine-match start in the history of the program. The Rainbow Wahine have never been better than 7-2 through nine games of any season.
BERGER SETS HAWAI‘I RECORD
Hawai‘i goakleeper Monk Berger recorder her 13th career shutout last weekend at Denver to set the Rainbow Wahine record in the category. The senior leads the league with 43 saves. Her 0.71 goals against average is fourth-best in league.
BIG WEST SHUTS OUT OPPONENTS
Of the Big West’s 67 games so far this season, 34 have resulted in clean sheets. The Big West goalkeepers have shutout 51 percent of its opponents.
PALACIOS LEADS ANTEATERS
UC Irvine’s Kiana Palacios currently leads the Big West in points (19), shots (30) and is tied for the best in goals (7) and assists (5). Her 19 points also tie for the third-best mark in the NCAA.
