A sweep of No. 5 Texas Tech vaulted Jake Jefferies and Thomas Eshelman of Cal State Fullerton to the baseball weekly awards.
Jefferies Leads Titans At Plate In Sweep Of Red Raiders
Cal State Fullerton junior Jake Jefferies (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill HS) led the team with a .556 average in a three-game sweep of No. 5 Texas Tech, and he earned Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week accolades.
The infielder had five hits in nine at-bats during the series and scored a run in each game. He went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Friday’s series-opening 4-0 victory. He drove in another run in Sunday’s 6-5 win.
Jefferies also went 1-for-4 to help the Titans notch a 3-0 shutout over Pepperdine in a midweek game.
For the week, Jefferies hit .462 (6-for-13) with three runs scored, two RBI and two walks. He posted a .533 on-base percentage.

Eshelman Tosses Complete Game Shutout
Cal State Fullerton junior Thomas Eshelman (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) dominated No. 5 Texas Tech with a career-high 14 strikeouts to garner Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week accolades.
The right-hander threw a complete game shutout in Friday’s 4-0 victory. He held the Red Raiders to just five hits and allowed just two base runners to advance to second base all night. Eshelman faced the minimum through five innings and issued just one walk.
He completely squelched a Red Raider offense that had outscored the opposition 85-45 going into Friday night’s game.
