CSUN goalkeeper Kiernan Davis (Redlands, Calif./Redlands HS) led the defensive charge at the UCI Invitational, earning Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors.

The senior helped the ninth-ranked Matadors to an tournament-opening victory over No. 8 San Jose State, making 14 saves in a 10-9 overtime decision.  She made several saves in one-on-one situations that enabled the Matadors to overcame a fourth quarter deficit and force overtime.

Davis made 17 more saves in three matches against additional high powered competition in top-ranked Stanford, No. 5 UC Irvine and No. 6 Arizona State.  Against the Anteaters, she stopped eight shots in an 8-3 loss.  She kept the Matadors close with five saves in a 9-7 setback to the Sun Devils.

On the weekend, Davis also recorded four steals.
