Sacramento State’s Chimdum Mez and Cal Poly’s Wade Hamilton notched Big West Men’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors with solid performances.
Mez Helps Hornets Dent Win Column
Senior Chimdum Mez (Sacramento, Calif./Franklin HS) contributed heavily to both Sacramento State victories in earning Big West Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
Mez scored the game-winning goals against both San Jose State (2-1) and Cleveland State (2-0) as the Hornets improved to 2-2-1 on the season. He has netted a goal in three of the last four games and is tied for third in the Big West in scoring. His three goals is a new career high.
He made his only shot of the game count against the Spartans, knocking in his attempt to the far post from the top of the box in the 59th minute. He struck early against the Vikings with a 14th minute goal that stood up as his second game-winning strike of the weekend.

Hamilton Posts Consecutive Shutouts
Wade Hamilton (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) extended his consecutive goalless streak in a pair of shutouts, as the Cal Poly junior earned Big West Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week acclaim.
It was the fourth career honor for Hamilton, who is now tied for fourth in Big West history.
Hamilton’s goalless streak improved to 339 consecutive minutes after handcuffing Grand Canyon in a 2-0 victory and top-ranked UCLA in a 0-0 draw. He made one save against Grand Canyon and three versus the Bruins. The spotless ledger lowered Hamilton’s season goals against average to 0.96.
