Mitchell Sets Career High In Goals

altUC Irvine sophomore McKenna Mitchell (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill HS) collected Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honors as she scored a total of seven goals in a pair of wins over ranked opponents.
 
The center began the week with a goal, two earned exclusions and two steals in UCI's 13-7 victory over No. 11 UC San Diego.  Her contribution helped the Anteaters put the game away with a 5-0 fourth quarter.
 
Mitchell's best effort came against No. 17 San Diego State.  She notched a career-high six goals in the 13-6 triumph, helping the 'Eaters storm to a seven-goal victory after trailing by one at halftime.  Mitchell became the sixth Anteater in program history to score six goals in a match.
 
Mitchell, who ranks second on the team with 31 goals, is just 10 away from eclipsing her previous career-best of 41 in 2013.
